ABOUT US

4Paws University has been offering training and behavior services throughout the Sacramento area since 2001. We are locally owned and operated.

Our goal is to educate dog owners and give them the tools and skills they need to turn their puppy or dog into a well-behaved companion, thereby reducing the number of dogs relinquished to shelters and euthanized for avoidable training and behavior problems. We have extensive experience working with a wide variety of breeds, types and sizes of dogs, as well as hearing-impaired and deaf dogs.

Our trainers are recommended by the Sacramento SPCA, local veterinarians, rescue groups and other professional trainers. We have been featured in Sacramento Magazine, The Sacramento Bee and appeared on Good Day Sacramento .  Our articles on training and behavior have received much acclaim from the dog community and are now featured by the San Diego Humane Society as well as numerous dog-related websites.

OUR METHODS

Dog owners choose 4Paws University because they want to learn how to train their dog and resolve problems without the use of choke chains or other aversive tools or techniques of the past.

Positive reinforcement training has been used for decades to train marine animals for entertainment, military service, and to change aggressive behaviors. These same methods are equally as effective with your dog!

Positive does not mean permissive. We teach you how to use positive methods in combination with practical and benevolent leadership techniques which are based on more than a century of research of both dog and wolf behavior, all of which has proven that dogs do not need to be hurt or frightened in order to be well-behaved or overcome behavior problems.

INSTRUCTORS

All of our trainers work closely together to ensure the highest quality of training and education possible. Committed to remaining on the cutting edge of canine behavior, our trainers continue their education through seminars and telecourses by the top trainers and behavior specialists in the industry. All of our trainers have experience with a wide variety of training methods, but choose to use positive methods as the most effective means of training and behavior modification.

ASSISTANT TRAINERS

Our assistant trainers have been hand-picked by us to help dog owners in class. Their experience, dedication and passion for helping dogs and their owners makes them an invaluable addition to the 4Paws University Team.
